FRIED C Series (Classic) Upgrade Program

Fried Products is pleased to announce the next release in the FRIED CLASSIC upgrade program for the midrange driver in the C, C2, C3, and C3-L loudspeakers.

The FRIED CLASSIC upgrade program will only be available direct and is separate from our standard line of loudspeakers that are only available through our dealer network.

C Series Midrange Highlights

The new 6.5” woofer is a vastly improved driver. The cone material is a composite paper containing several additives to improve stiffness and fiber additives to improve the internal losses, reduce edge-hole distortion and control the response above the crossover point. The woofer features a cast magnesium basket, vented pole piece, butyl rubber surround, large magnet, oxygen free voice coil, long extension and a low Qts suitable for our transmission lines. The new woofer has improved bass performance and is very well controlled beyond the upper crossover frequency. The upper midrange is more precise and focused due to less cone resonance and inter-modulation distortion. The flange will fit into the existing 6.625” cut-out. However, some may need to enlarge the through- hole by 0.125” along the outside edge.

Crossover

There were countless crossover configurations produced over the years in the C series satellites. The new midrange will work with any of the existing pre “MARS” crossovers. If you have a C-3L produced with the “MARS” system or contains the double voice coil Gefco midrange, you will need to replace the crossover network. A crossover schematic will be included in the kit. Most crossovers were assembled from kits and people developed their own layouts, and used their favorite electrical components, terminals, wire, capacitors, resistors and inductors. Therefore, no finished crossovers will be available.

Kit Contents

The upgrade kit will contain two woofers, mounting screws, crossover schematic and instructions.
