Compact 7
A NEW BENCHMARK
Fried Products is proud to introduce the Compact 7, continuing
our 30-year association with transmission line technology and
series crossover networks
in an affordable 2-way loudspeaker.
DRIVERS
The Compact 7 uses highly advanced drivers. The
woofer is a 7" woven glass fiber NRSC
cone with vented motor, free flow magnesium basket, damped dust cap
and rubber surround.
The tweeter is a combination of a 1" ring radiator with a small
dome in the center for improved dispersion while maintaining frequency
extension to 40KHz.
CABINET / LOADING METHOD
Transmission lines are the most effective method to reproduce
non-resonant, accurate and
extended bass. High quality MDF along with the internal baffle structure
produce a well-braced rigid cabinet. The Compact 7 utilizes the traditional
FRIED “free flow”® damping system.
Line resonance is controlled with advanced damping materials and
effective woofer placement. The result is smoother attenuation of
resonance, elimination of cancellation effects, more defined fundamental
and faster decay. Also, transmission lines present an easy load for
amplifiers since they are highly resistive rather than reactive.
CROSSOVER
Series first order in the FRIED tradition. No impedance
matching or shaping networks are used because they destroy the time
cues of music. Construction is point to point hand wired using
high quality components.
RESULT
The combination of transmission line technology and a
series crossover network is the only way
to produce the attack of the fundamental, which is the most basic
nature of the live music experience. The hammer tone of the piano,
whack of the mallet on the drum, timbre of the human voice, and
the sound of the strings are indeed all music’s essential “correctness.” The
Compact 7 will reproduce the attack and nuances of live music in
the Fried tradition.
